Where is Adobe Dreamweaver going? Backwards????

Frustration, frustration, frustration! It seems to me since I've been forced to migrate into the so called better web authoring program, Dreamweaver, I've been loosing a lot of hair!

A Little Catch-Up
I have been using Adobe products and Mac computers my whole designing life and I taught myself GoLive, an Adobe web authoring program. At the beginning it was a little confusing, but user friendly enough I could learn it pretty fast. You see, I am a graphic designer with a degree in Graphic Art and Design. GoLive was a program that I could use my layout and design skills on and not have to be a programmer or coder. (Programming/coding would be a whole different degree and profession.) I really appreciated that and I think most designers did. Well, back then Dreamweaver was owned my Macromedia along with Fireworks. (Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on that) They were bought out by Adobe and Dreamweaver sadly, in my opinion, replaced GoLive. As usual, when operating systems advance, you are forced to upgrade your software. This led me to purchasing Dreamweaver.

First Frustration
I updated my computer and I have been using Dreamweaver for about a year off an on while still going back to GoLive. After updating to Snow Leopard, GoLive was not very compatible. This was my first frustration. Now that I have updated to "Lion" I cannot even open GoLIve!!!! ARRRRGGGGGHH! This absolutely sucks.

I Can Hear You Now....
"You need to learn Dreamweaver, its so much more advanced and a better program!" Well, the problem I have with this is that Dreamweaver is a great program for a coder or programmer! I am not that, I am a designer. I DO NOT WANT TO PROGRAM OR CODE!!! My skill is in design and layout, not typing tiny code and brackets and quotations etc.... (BTW: Nothing against coders or programmers) I just don't have the time.

Dreamweaver is not a wysiwig program like they say, by any means.
Sure you can create really lame websites with the really really lame templates they give you! Puuuleeease! What took me an hour when I was using GoLive now takes me four hours. Simple things like embedding is now an action that I need to know coding for. I thought we were advancing programs. It seems if I have to know coding when I didn't before, we are going backwards. Call me crazy if you want. I understand that Dreamweaver's html is supposed to be so much cleaner and more efficient. Well, I think when I am done with my sites they are probably more a mess than when I did them in Golive LOL! All kidding aside, with high speed internet and faster processors, I don't think it makes much of a difference.

This REALLY MAKES ME MAD!!!!
I think they did this on purpose. This way it separates the graph
ic designers from the web designers. They are trying to eliminate the freelance or small business graphic designer who does web designing too.
WELL, WE HAVE TO EAT TO YOU
KNOW!!! (yes, I was yelling). I think that will be a
whole other post.

Just Touching The Surface
I will be easy on you since this is my first post and keep it brief. There is a lot more where this came from.
Till next time....Dream On!
